Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta Is Almost Here
On February 14, Polygon published an article on their blog, in which they announced that company plans to launch a beta version of zkEVM on March 27, 2023. They also presented the development of another Polygon ID ZK solution, which will allow users to verify an account without revealing data. Few days ago Polygon reminded its users that March 27 is almost here.
Polygon zkEVM is an Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) emulator that implements ZK-Rollups technology to increase throughput and transaction processing speed. zkEVM allows developers to deploy Ethereum smart contracts on the L2 network without any code changes, while taking advantage of ZK-Rollups, such as low gas costs and fast transaction finalization.
Many think that ZK solutions will be the future of decentralized networks due to the benefits they bring to blockchain technology. According to the official site, Polygon zkEVM will help:
- Reduce fees by 90% by minimizing the amount of data recorded on the main network.
- Increase the speed of transactions.
- Create a fast and clear infrastructure for decentralized application developers.
- Simplify interaction with Ethereum (ETH) due to the ability to deploy smart contracts in L1/L2 without changing the code.
- Maintain the high level of security that the main Ethereum network provides.
Polygon started developing zkEVM as a next stage of their Hermez ZK product last year. By autumn, Polygon zkEVM was already launched on the testnet. Over the past six months, everyone, who was interested in new technology, had the opportunity to check it out. Soon we’ll see new technology in action and find out how it’ll affect Polygon (MATIC) price.
