  • Why does Bill think AI is better than Metaverse?
  • AI vs Metaverse — what's more perspective?
  • Conclusion

Bill Gates is a man that needs no introduction. Through the co-founding of Windows, his investments, and his philanthropic cause Gates has become easily among the most recognizable faces of the century. His legacy and impact on shaping the world we know cannot be understated.

Cryptocurrencies, just like Windows back in the day, are also taking the world by storm. In this article, we will be taking a look at what Gates has to say about the crypto space. So let’s get into it!

What did Bill Gates say?

In a Q&A Reddit post made by Bill Gates, he shared his thoughts on the future of web3, the Metaverse, and AI. He received a question from a user who asked if Gates is seeing the same technological shift now that he saw in the 2000s with the Internet.

Answering a user he responded:

He however ignored the follow-up question asking if he could share a more detailed opinion about the topic.

Why does Bill think AI is better than Metaverse?

The comments are not a big surprise considering the negative view Gates has of the crypto space overall. In the past, he claimed:

Gates is of the opinion that crypto is mostly a speculative asset. He has always been skeptical about Bitcoin and has not changed his point of view even as crypto is becoming mainstream. Back in an interview with Bloomberg, the tech billionaire voiced concerns about the Average Joe losing all his savings with digital assets.

Bill Gates certainly has a point with the recent TerraUSD and FTX costing billions to investors. However, many point out that the programming genius just isn’t keeping up with the times. Speculation is present in the cryptocurrency market, however, that’s not all digital assets are known for. Besides all the market madness the underlying technology has the potential to revolutionize the global economy by implementing decentralized P2P transactions.

AI vs Metaverse — what's more perspective?

Both technologies have a lot to offer the world. They bring revolutionary features to the table that will undoubtedly change the way we interact with the world around us. AI and the Metaverse are shaping the economy of the future with billions being poured into making it happen.

However, the two technologies are not mutually exclusive. The Metaverse and AI can coexist, in fact, they can thrive by working together. The development of smart machines capable of doing what people cannot fit in perfectly with the vision of a virtual interconnected world capable of replacing the physical.

Metaverse developers have already jumped on the AI train to develop their virtual worlds. For instance, AI allows for the building of precise and reality-based 3D Metaverse avatars. The use case is crucial as the Metaverse aims to be the virtual world that can function just like the “real” world would.

Furthermore, AI can also help create so-called digital humans in the Metaverse. These are sophisticated NPC models with whom you can accurately communicate through verbal and body language.

AI data learning also without a doubt benefits the Metaverse experience. AI technology allows the world to learn as it goes, registering and acting accordingly with users' data. Bottom line is, the use cases for the combination of AI and the Metaverse are endless. We could almost say that they were in fact made for each other.

Conclusion

Artificial intelligence and the Metaverse are two of the most groundbreaking technologies the world has to offer. Their combination helps bring out the maximum from both of them, allowing for an optimal user experience. However, Bill Gates' statements lack context.

The billionaire is notoriously anti-crypto, however, we do not have enough information to know whether he sees the potential of AI and the Metaverse working together. Hopefully, in the future Bill Gates will expand on the comment, and who knows, maybe change his mind about cryptocurrencies.
