- Defending honest actors against attack
SimpleSwap, an instant cryptocurrency exchange platform, has prevented an attempt to launder funds stolen from Swarm City, Edgeless Project, and æternity during the 2017 Parity Multisig Wallet hack.
Justice has prevailed
In July 2017, unknown malicious attackers stole over 153,000 ETH after discovering a bug in Parity’s multisig wallet code. The projects affected by the attack were Swarm City, Edgeless Project, and æternity. Parity explained the exploit in detail in this postmortem.
Recently, with the help of the three projects, SimpleSwap identified 500 ETH sent to the platform from one of the attacker’s wallets. The SimpleSwap Team acted quickly and was able to stop the attacker from exchanging and removing the funds.
Now, SimpleSwap is very pleased to announce the return of the stolen funds back to Swarm City, Edgeless Project, and æternity.
